Description
The Old Mill is a late 18th-century mill, later converted into flats, likely dating from around 1850. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and has a hipped slate roof. The building is four storeys high, with a five-window range on its east side. It features segmental-headed leading doors in the centre bay, and two-light flush mullion windows with segmental-headed iron casements. A metal tower with 20th-century balconies is situated in front of the entrance, beneath a slate gabled roof. A two-storey lean-to addition extends from the north end. The west side has a basement and a three-storey elevation with a four-window range; the outer bays retain similar windows, while the central two bays have 20th-century replacements. A mill wheel was originally located on the south end of the building. It was described as 'newly erected' in 1855.
