Description
The barn located to the southwest of Charlton Manor Farmhouse is a large structure dating from the late 18th century. It features weatherboarding on timber framing and has a Flemish bond brick plinth, topped with a half-hipped tiled roof. The barn consists of eight bays and is aisled. On the south side, there are two double planked doors, while the north side has two sliding doors, which are now part of a 20th-century added shelter shed. Additionally, double doors have been inserted into the west gable. Inside, the eight-bay layout includes tie-beam roof trusses with curved bracing to the aisle posts, raking struts to the collar, clasped butt purlins with straight wind-bracing, and straight bracing to the wall plate from the aisle posts. Each bay features V-struts in the walls.
