Description
West Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located on the north side of Knook Warminster Road. The building is rendered and features shallow quoins, a hipped roof made of Welsh slate with deep eaves, and stone stacks with moulded capping. It has an L-shaped plan and is two stories high with three windows on the front.
The central entrance is a classical stone porch with a round-arched opening, flanked by arched windows on the side walls. Inside the porch is a four-panelled inner door, with a 12-pane sash window on either side, all set within a plain eared architrave. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sash windows.
The right side of the building has a canted bay with sash windows on the ground floor, a glazed door to the right, and two sash windows on the first floor. There is a contemporary wing to the right that contains two plate glass sashes on both floors. The left side also has sash windows. Although the interior has not been inspected, West Farmhouse is noted as a good example of an early 19th-century farmhouse in this valley.
