Description
Railway Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th or 17th century or possibly earlier. It was probably originally timber framed but is now faced with whitewashed brick and features a thatched roof. The cottage is single storey with an attic and consists of three bays. The entrance door is located on the west side, opposite a cross passage behind a central stack, with a stairway situated to the rear of the stack. The two southern bays now serve as a living room and kitchen, which includes a gable stack, while the north bay has a large external brick stack. The windows are timber casements from the 19th century. The roof has two dormers on the west side and one on the east. The interior likely contains a cruck frame between the two southern bays.
