Description

Appletree Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th to 17th century. It is constructed of chalkstone and timber framing, with later alterations in brick and flint. The cottage features a thatched roof and is a single storey with an attic, comprising two bays. The north gable retains remnants of the timber frame, which includes a cambered tie and a clasped purlin roof. There is a blocked door in the gable. The west front has been rebuilt in brick, and the cottage has timber casement windows. An extension of one bay is present at the south end, and the thatch sweeps over one flush dormer.
