Description

Ball Cottage and No 3 are two cottages positioned at right angles to each other, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. They are constructed with a timber frame, featuring brick and wattle and daub infilling, and topped with thatched roofs. Both cottages are single storey with attics. Ball Cottage showcases a full cruck frame resting on a battered brick and sarsen sill, with the side framing consisting of two panels high. It has two windows in the gable, one of which is blocked, and a half-glazed door. No 3 has two and a half bays and stands four panels high, with corner braces. It features a boarded door and timber casement windows, while the gable end includes tension braces. The upper floor has small canted casement windows, and there is a stack in the half bay, which is dated 1697.
