Description
Lake House, formerly known as Lake Cottage, is a boathouse with an attached cottage dating from around 1800, attributed to the architect John Nash. The building is constructed of rubble stone and features a stone-tiled roof, rising to one and a half storeys.
The west end, facing the lake, has a broad low arched opening at the base and a 3-light, 2-transom window above it. The central light of this window has a pointed head and is adorned with a hoodmould. On the south side, there are two charming eyebrow eaves dormers; one contains iron casements while the other features stone Y-tracery. Additionally, there are two ground floor 2-light mullion windows with hoodmoulds, although one pair of these windows is blank.
The east end showcases a large porch with a weatherboarded gable, and above it is a twelve-pane window. On the north side, there is a 2-light bead-moulded window situated above a Tudor-arched doorway that leads to a brick-vaulted boathouse. To the right of this doorway, there is a lean-to structure.
