Description

Eton House and the attached outhouse is a detached house dating from the mid-17th century, with additions from the 19th century. It is built of rubble stone and features a thatched roof, which has a hip to the right and a half-hip to the left, along with gable end brick stacks. The house is L-shaped, with the gable end facing the road. It is two stories high and has a two-windowed façade typical of 17th-century architecture.

The central entrance consists of a four-panelled door set within a thatched porch, flanked by two 3-light recessed hollow chamfered mullioned casements. On the first floor, there are two 2-light mullioned casements. The 19th-century addition to the right features two 2-light casements on both the ground and first floors. The left side has two 2-light casements on the ground floor and a single light in the attic.

At the rear, the 19th-century wing includes a glazed door and a 20-pane sash window with a keystone on the ground floor, along with a 2-light casement and a 16-pane sash on the first floor. There is a three-brick plat band with a toothed middle course. The main range has been restored to include 3-light mullioned windows and a plat band similar to that of the wing. The south addition from the 19th century features a glazed door, a 20-pane sash, and casements.

Inside, the house has chamfered beams with run-out stops and an open fireplace with a timber lintel set on stone jambs. A 3-light mullioned window from the former rear wall is preserved within the interior wall of the 17th-century range. To the right of the front of the house, there is an attached cob outhouse with a hipped thatched roof, a brick stack, casements, and a planked door.
