Description
This building is a barn and an attached range of stalls located to the south of Trimnell's Farmhouse, constructed around 1874 for W. H. Poynder of Hartham Park. It features squared small ashlar stone and has stone-tiled roofs. The barn has coped gables on both the north and south sides, as well as opposing projecting gabled cart-entries. It includes a plinth and moulded eaves, with ventilation loops positioned alternately at upper and lower levels. There is a door to the north of each cart entry, each with a relieving arch above. The barn consists of seven bays, with a broad central bay, and has a double purlin roof supported by tie-beam-and-collar trusses and angle posts. Extending from the northwest corner is a range of seven open stalls, which are supported by timber posts and have a coped west gable. This structure is part of an unusually elaborate Victorian estate farm.
