Description

This is a house, likely dating from the 16th or 17th century, originally timber-framed. It is situated on the north side of Erlestoke High Street. The visible front now features painted brick in a herringbone pattern, laid upon a rubble stone plinth, and has a thatched hipped roof with a central axial ridge stack. The house was probably raised from one and a half storeys to two, and the roof has been lowered to a steeper pitch over the door, which is set within an ovolo-moulded frame. A tiled gabled porch is present. The front elevation has square framing, with a pair of casement windows on each floor. Curved angle braces extend upwards to the first-floor sill beam, and straight tension braces are positioned above. Exposed framing is visible on the end walls. A two-storey painted brick rear wing has a two-window range of casement windows.
