Description
27-29 The Halve is a pair of connected houses dating from around the 1790s. They are two storeys tall with an attic, built from red brick featuring occasional header courses, and have a continuous mansard roof with stone quoins. The roof has two dormers covered in double roman tiles.
On the first floor, there are four windows in stone surrounds with a beaded inner edge; these are glazing bar sashes. There is a blocked window above the door of No 29, which has painted glazing bars, and a similar window is located in the centre of the ground floor. No 27 features a wood-framed window below the lintel of a former opening, while No 29 has a wooden three-light bay window with panelled pilasters.
The doors are distinctive as well; No 27 has a ledged door in a wooden surround, No 28 has a stone surround with a beaded inner edge, and No 29 features a raised surround with a beaded inner edge and a moulded outer edge, supported by cut brackets under a moulded hood, leading to a six-panel door.
Nos 23 to 29 form a group.
