Description
21 The Halve is a building dating from around the 1790s and is part of a significant terrace that includes Nos 18 to 21. It is constructed of red brick with flush stone quoins and features a projecting stone plinth at the basement level. The building stands three storeys tall, with a basement and an attic, although No 21 does not have an attic. It has cill bands on the first and second floors, an astragal below the cornice, and a parapet with coping that continues from Nos 19 and 20.
The façade includes a single dormer window, a single window to the left, and coupled windows to the right; all are fitted with glazing bar sashes that have flush stone surrounds with a beaded inner edge. Access to the doorway on the left is via concrete steps that have a modern brick guard wall. The doorway is topped with an open pediment supported by console brackets and features a fluted frieze that has been scraped smooth. The six-panel door includes two glazed upper panels and lower panels that are raised and fielded, and it is adorned with a lion mask and wreath knocker. To the right of the doorway, there is a rainwater head.
Nos 13 and 14 are part of a group with Nos 17 to 21, which are consecutive.
