Description
18 The Halve is a late 18th century building that is part of a major terrace consisting of Nos 18-21. It is three stories tall with a basement, constructed of red brick on a stuccoed plinth. There is a stone string course at the first and second floor levels, along with a rendered brick frieze and a moulded cornice. The stone parapet has moulded coping that is only retained on the return. The roof is covered with pantiles and features a large central brick chimney stack.
The building has glazing bar sash windows, with two on the second floor and a coupled window on both the first and ground floors. All windows are framed in plain stone surrounds. The entrance is a six-panel door located in the right-hand corner, with the top panels glazed. This door is set within a stone surround that includes a small cornice and a pediment supported by cut stone brackets, with a bed mould that breaks forward around the brackets. Access to the entrance is via four moulded slate steps, accompanied by a plain wrought iron guard rail. The basement features a half-glazed door and one window, both with guard railings.
Nos 13 and 14 form a group with Nos 17 to 21, which are consecutive.
