Description

The gate and gatepiers of Longfield House, located on Mortimer Street, date from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The structure features a wall made of ashlar that stands about 6 feet tall. The main points of interest are the gate piers and gates, which are set within quadrant walls. The piers are topped with cross-ridge caps. The gates are made of cast iron and include spearhead railings on a ramped upper bar, with an anthemion design at the center. Below the upper bar, there is a short arcade, scrolled center panels, and quatrefoil spacers.
