Description
Hurstead Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble, with the front rendered, and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in a three-bay through hall plan. The central entrance is a recessed half-glazed four-panel door, which is topped by a margin-glazed fanlight and a simple canopy. The windows are 20-pane sashes. The roof is hipped and includes two hipped leaded dormers, while brick stacks are located on the rear slope. There is a parallel rear block of earlier date, likely from the 18th century, made of colourwashed rubble with a stone slated roof. This block has two lower storeys and three bays, featuring an off-centre door and irregularly placed casement windows, all with timber lintels. Additionally, there is a lean-to on the west side and a tall brick stack.
