Description

A group of five cottages, now reduced to three, dating back to 1605 with later alterations. They are arranged in two parallel blocks connected by a linking block, creating a Z-shaped plan. Behind the main structures lies Packhorse Corner, originally numbers 2 to 4. The cottages were initially timber-framed with thatched roofs. Numbers 5 and 6 are now fronting the road and are constructed of colourwashed limestone with brick quoining, also featuring thatched roofs. All the cottages are single-storey with attics. Modern doors are set beneath thatched open porches. They have timber casement windows. The thatch slopes over eight dormers and is hipped at the ends. Number 6 was formerly a smithy.
