Description
Nos 21 to 27 on New Street are a late 18th to early 19th century terrace of three-storey buildings constructed of red brick. They feature flat moulded eaves and a hipped slate roof. The second floor has four square windows, while the first floor has two windows and an off-centre angular bay that is framed with Doric pilasters and a cornice. On the ground floor, there are six-panel doors located in the outer corners, each with an architrave surround, angle blocks, a frieze, a cornice, and one pilaster, with a framed window next to each door. There is a plain 19th-century shop window beneath the angular bay and an arched passage entry located left of centre. At the back, No 23 is a two-storey cottage made of stucco, with a slate-hung upper part and a slate roof. It has two windows and two doors, each with 4-pane rectangular fanlights and surrounds of narrow pilasters and a cornice. Nos 21 to 49, the School of Arts and Crafts, and Nos 61, 63, and 67 to 75 form a group.
