Description

The Manor is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century. It is built of English garden wall bond brick on a rubble stone plinth, topped with a stone slate roof and brick stacks. The building has a T-plan and is two storeys high with two windows on the front. The central entrance features 20th-century double doors set in a Tudor-arched stone doorway, flanked by three-light leaded casements. A continuous string course runs along the first floor, which has two three-light hollow-chamfered mullioned and transomed casements, with a blocked window above the door.

To the left, a projecting wing contains a three-light leaded casement on the ground floor and a three-light mullioned and transomed casement on the first floor. The left side of the building features two brick plat bands at the first and attic floors, a single-light moulded casement on the ground floor, and a three-light mullioned casement on the first floor, with lozenge diapers in vitrified headers at the gable. There is also a single-storey rubble stone extension, now used as a kitchen, with artificial stone slates.

On the right side, there are French windows on the ground floor, two brick plat bands, and three-light mullioned casements on both the first and attic floors. The rear of the building includes a large corrugated iron lean-to shed on the left, which is not of special interest, alongside a three-light mullioned and transomed casement on the first floor and a gabled lateral stack. A rear wing to the right features mullioned and transomed or mullioned casements, and there is a late 19th-century two-storey addition on the east side.

The interior was not accessible during the survey in March 1987, but it is reported to have original stairs with turned balusters, chamfered beams, a stone Tudor-arched fireplace, and open fireplaces with chamfered lintels on stone jambs.
