Description

No. 24 is a pair of Bowood estate houses built in 1875. They are constructed from squared rubble stone with brick dressings and feature a Bridgwater tile eaves roof with stacks that have brick diagonal shafts. The houses are one and a half storeys tall and have an ironstone rubble plinth, brick quoins, and decorative details. The window surrounds include nogged brick lintels under brick voussoirs.

The north gable end, which faces the road, has a jettied upper floor supported by stepped-out brick courses. The ground floor features a four-light casement window, while above it is a triple casement and a date plaque in the apex. The west front is asymmetrical, with a slightly projected gable on each side. The gable has a narrower ground floor that is broadened with brick corbelling on either side. Below this gable is a triple casement window, and above it is a pair of casement windows.

To the right, there is a door set in an acutely pointed brick and timber porch, which has a brick base and a boarded upper part with a shouldered opening and a shouldered light on the north side. The gable features a scissor truss and is boarded behind, with a decorative banded tile roof. To the left, there is a smaller but similar gabled hood on large timber brackets over a door, with a small window above it under the eaves. This side also has a triple casement below and a pair of casement windows in a dormer gable above. At the rear, there is a southwest wing with a west stack.
