Description

Cockhill Farmhouse is a late 17th-century building that has been altered over time. It is a two-storey farmhouse with a gable slit attic window, constructed in brick with a projecting plinth featuring chamfered capping. The corners are defined by stone quoins, and a chamfered stone drip string runs above the ground floor windows. A brick billet moulding is present at transom level on the first floor. The roof is covered with stone tiles and has three brick ridge chimneys and coped verges. The farmhouse is arranged in a ‘T’ plan. To the left is a two-storey rectangular bay with a mullion and transom window arrangement of 1+4+1 lights. To the right are two casement windows, later glazed, alongside a three-light mullion window with transoms. A half-glazed door is centrally positioned between the casements, set within a plain surround and a 18th-century stone doorcase featuring Spaltrade columns, an entablature, and a pediment.
