Description

This description covers a group of three chest tombs located in the churchyard, positioned between 1 and 8 metres south of the nave of the Church of St Mary. These tombs date from the 18th century and are made of limestone.

The northernmost tomb is dedicated to Jeffery Blanchard, who died in 1746. It features two fielded panels, quarter balusters, and a fluted frieze on its flat top. The next tomb to the south commemorates Thomas Stevens, who died in 1742, and includes two fielded panels adorned with egg and dart mouldings, quarter balusters, and a moulded cornice on its flat top. The southernmost tomb is likely from the early 18th century and has circular raised panels, pilasters with scrolled carving, and a moulded cornice leading to a cyma-moulded flat top, though the inscription on it is illegible.
