Description

The Old Rectory is a late 18th-century rectory, now a detached house. It is constructed of dressed limestone and ashlar, with stone slate mansard roofs featuring coped verges and gable end stone and brick stacks. The two-storey and attic main front, facing the church, has a three-window facade. A central 20th-century glazed door with a transom light is flanked by 12-pane tripartite sash windows within beaded architraves. The first floor has a central plain sash with tripartite sashes either side, with a blocking course extending to the roof. The lower pitch of the mansard roof features three 12-pane sashes.

The right return, now the front entrance, has a door with six fielded panels, originally from the main front, and a 19th-century two-storey ashlar addition with sash windows. The rear, facing the road, has a two-span mansard roof with 12-pane sashes in beaded architraves, and a lean-to addition to the right featuring six-pane 19th-century sash windows. The left return has a 20th-century 12-pane sash window on the ground floor, and an attached wing with sash windows in beaded architraves, including two sashes to the lower pitch of the mansard. A 20th-century conservatory has replaced a late 19th-century wing.

The interior features six-panelled doors within moulded architraves, square-headed stone fireplace surrounds, a staircase with stick balusters and a ramped handrail, and Tuscan newels. A rear dining room, formerly the kitchen, has a chamfered beam with run-out stops. The building ceased to be occupied as a rectory in 1969.
