Description
Beech Grove Lock, accommodation bridge, and apron weir is a canal lock, bridge, and weir located on the Kennet and Avon Canal, dating from around 1800. The lock is constructed of brick with stone copings and features timber gates. The upper gates are equipped with ground paddles and an inset ladder, while the lower gates have gear for gate paddles. Both sets of gates were restored in 1980. The accommodation bridge situated below the lower gate has a bullnosed 330 mm brick ring haunch and consists of two courses of string and part blue courses, with a flush round brick coping. The bridge is splayed on plan and includes four filled spun concrete rings set as tank obstacles.
