Description
Number 6 Newtown is a 17th-century building that was originally two houses. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a stone-tiled roof, featuring gables at both the front and rear. The building is two storeys high, plus attics, and has two windows with three-light stone-mullioned casements that include dripmoulds. There is a chamfered square-headed stone door opening. Attached to the main structure is a splayed two-storey wing with a coped end gable and a stone-tiled roof, which has modern casements and sashes.
Number 6 forms a group with Numbers 5, 27 to 31 (consecutive) on Newtown, and the wall along Newtown, as well as Numbers 7 and 9 to 19 (consecutive) on Barton Orchard. This group is part of the listed buildings in Church Street, The Chantry, Little Chantry, and includes the Catholic Church of St. Thomas More on Market Street.
