Description
No 9 Barton Orchard is a 17th-century building that has been significantly altered. It is two storeys high and constructed of random rubble with ashlar quoins. The roof is pantiled with eaves. On the first floor, there are three modern casement windows, while the ground floor features one original 17th-century window with three lights divided by stone mullions. To the right, there is a modern elliptical arch. The building extends to the left with a three-storey section that has a lower elevation, also made of random rubble, and includes one original two-light window with a stone mullion on the upper floor. No 7, Nos 9 to 19 in sequence, the Chantry, and Little Chantry form a group with all the listed buildings on Church Street, along with the Catholic Church of St Thomas More on Market Street and Nos 5 and 6 and 27 to 31 in sequence, as well as the wall at the Builders Yard in Newtown.
