Description
The stone parapets on the front of the terraces located on the south and east sides of The Chantry and Little Chantry are likely from the 18th century. They are made of ashlar and surround the terraces, overlooking the churchyard and vicarage. The design includes sections of openwork balustrade, with stone revetments beneath where the ground slopes down. The Chantry and Little Chantry, along with Nos 7 and 9 to 19 (consecutive) on Church Street, are part of a group with other listed buildings, including the Catholic Church of St Thomas More on Market Street and Nos 5, 6, and 27 to 31 (consecutive), as well as the wall at the Builders Yard in Newtown.
