Description

19, Newtown is an important 18th-century building situated on a corner site. The building is constructed of ashlar and extends to two storeys with a mansard roof. The upper section of the mansard roof is covered in stone tiles, while the lower section is slated. The roof features three cambered-headed dormers, each with wooden casements. There are five windows on the front elevation; the side windows are arranged in pairs. All windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within reveals. A plain string course runs along the first floor level, and a moulded cornice sits above, terminating in a plain parapet. The central doorway has a square, flat-moulded cornice supported by stone brackets. A plinth course runs along the base of the building. The front door is a six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above it. Building No. 19 is part of a group with Nos. 1 and 3 Wine Street.
