Description
Lower Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to the 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features Bridgwater tile roofs, with coped gables and a ridge stack as well as a stack at the south end. The building is two storeys high.
The main east front has a four-window range. The left side appears to be a later addition or alteration, featuring 12-pane 18th-century sash windows on both floors. The right side has a regular arrangement of two-light recessed cyma-moulded mullion windows with hoodmoulds. There is a central six-panel door set in a flush cyma-moulded surround with a hood, and to the left of the door, there is a window that has been replaced by a 20th-century canted timber bay window.
At the rear, there is a coped gabled stair tower with a recessed cyma-moulded single light and hoodmould. To the left, there is a 20th-century door in a flush doorcase with moulded jambs. A two-storey rear wing to the left has casement windows and a coped west gable. To the right, there is an altered link range featuring a three-light recessed cyma-moulded window with a hoodmould on the south side, which connects to a stone-tiled stable and loft range. This range includes an upper loading door and a ground floor window on either side of the doorway, all with timber lintels.
