Description
The gazebo on the east side of the garden at Great Chalfield Manor was built around 1910 by Harold Brakspear for Robert Fuller. It is made of coursed rubble stone and features a stone slate pyramidal roof topped with a ball finial. This square, two-storey garden structure is positioned on a slope and has entrances at both levels. The upper level has a Tudor-arched doorway with a planked door on the west side, while the lower level features a Tudor-arched doorway and arrowloops on the right side. The upper level also includes a four-light mullioned casement with arched lights, and the rear has a two-light ground floor mullioned casement. Originally, the gazebo was built as an ornamental apple store, and the lower level was used as a cheeseroom. The garden, which includes fine yew topiary, was designed by Mr. Partridge around 1910.
