Description
Malthouse Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the late 17th century, with 20th-century additions. It is constructed of dressed limestone and has a thatched roof, with gable end brick stacks. The property presents a gable end to the road. The cottage is two storeys and has an attic, with three windows. A two-storey porch was added in the 20th century, centrally positioned, and features a reset two-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement window to the first floor. The ground and first floors either side of the porch have three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement windows. There are two dormers with two-light casement windows. Modern extensions, not of special interest, are attached to the left and right sides. The interior retains chamfered beams, doors with four raised panels and butterfly hinges, a winding staircase to the attic from the first floor, and a cellar. Despite the 20th-century additions, the original cottage remains relatively unaltered, and it is included on the list for this reason.
