Description

The Samson monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 9 meters north of the west end of the Church of St Nicholas in Bromham. It dates from the mid to later 18th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. The tomb features two shield plaques on each side, a fielded panelled center, angle piers, and shield end plaques. It has a moulded base and a moulded cornice with a pulvinated frieze that is broken forward over the piers. The south side of the monument has an inscription dedicated to Sarah Samson, who died in 1817.
