Description
The Beaven chest tomb, located in a railed enclosure about 9 metres north of the tower of the Church of St. Michael, is an early 19th-century structure. It is made of limestone and features cast iron spearhead railings on tall feet, designed in an 18th-century style. The tomb has a plinth and oval fielded panels on the main sides, adorned with cherubs and naturalistic carved floral panels on either side of the main panel. The corners are accented with quarter balusters, and there is a grooved frieze and cornice on the hipped top. The tomb commemorates Mary Beaven, who died in 1811.
