Description

This is a milestone dated 1748, located immediately west of the Church of St Francis of Assisi on Salisbury Castle Road. It is made of limestone and has a rectangular shape with a cambered top, standing approximately 0.7 metres tall. The stone is much weathered, and the inscription on the west front is now illegible, except for the date 1748 at the bottom. There is tooling visible on the sides, and a bench-mark can be found on the left (north) side.
