Description

Box Cottage is a detached cottage dating to 1726, with alterations made in the late 18th century. The front is constructed of Flemish bond brick with vitrified headers, and has a thatched roof with a brick stack to the left. It is a two-storey, two-window building. A tablet bearing the date "WOR / 1726" sits above the central door, which has a flat hood. There is a two-light casement window to each side of the door. A brick plat band runs along the first floor, above which are two further two-light casement windows. The right return side reveals some timber framing in the gable, and the roof features raking struts to the collar, with one casement window in the attic. A 20th-century garage with a tiled roof is attached to the left, and a 20th-century extension is attached to the right. The rear of the property is not accessible. The interior is said to contain an open fireplace with a chamfered cambered lintel, and chamfered beams with convex stops.
