Description
Simms Cottage is a detached cottage located in Homington Village, dating from the mid-17th century with a late 18th-century two-storey addition to the west. The original 17th-century section features a timber frame with brick nogging, while the two-storey part on the right is constructed of Flemish bond brick. The roofs are tiled and include brick stacks. The front elevation consists of one and two-storey sections with three windows. There is a half-glazed door on the right, accompanied by a two-light casement window to the left, and the left section has two additional two-light casements. The first floor of the right section has one two-light casement. The right side of the building has a 20th-century door and casement windows on both the ground and first floors. The left side is timber-framed, featuring tension braces to the tie beam and a blocked circular window in the attic. The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported to contain chamfered beams with ovolo stops and a timber-framed partition on the first floor.
