Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of painted English bond brick and features a thatched roof, which is half-hipped to the right, with a brick stack on the left. The cottage is single-storey with an attic and has two windows. The central door is planked and set within a 20th-century porch that also has a thatched roof; on either side of the door are cast-iron casement windows. There are two eyebrow dormers, each with 2-light cast-iron casements. The right side of the cottage is finished in painted chalk and flint and has no windows. The rear shows some light timber-framing and includes 2-light casements. Inside, the cottage is said to have chamfered beams with ogee stops, an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel and run-out stops, winding stairs on the north side of the fireplace, and a bread oven on the south side.
