Description
14 The Green is a house dating from around 1840, though it likely has earlier origins. It is constructed of painted limestone rubble and features a gable stack and a pantile roof. The building has a single-depth plan with a rear extension and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range. The entrance is highlighted by an ashlar door surround and a bracketed cornice above a panelled door. The windows are late 19th-century 2/2-pane sashes, and there is a later canted three-light bay window on the left with 2/4-pane sashes. The house also includes two gabled dormers with decorative barge-boards. To the right, there is a former stable that has been incorporated into the house, featuring a left-hand doorway, 2/2-pane sashes, and a small gabled dormer. Inside, the layout has been altered, but there is a central axial stair with stick balusters and column newels.
