Description
Nos 16 and 17 are two cottages that were originally a single house, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. The structure is built from greensand and chalk blocks with flint, featuring areas that are partly rendered and partly adorned with applied timbering. It has a thatched roof and is a single storey with an attic, consisting of three bays and a lobby entry plan. Each cottage has two boarded doors leading into the main living room. The windows are made of timber with panes, and there are two dormers on the front and one on the rear. The roof is half hipped to the right side. Attached to the corner of No 17 is a brick outbuilding. Inside No 16, there are chamfered cross beams that are halved over cruck couples, which have a smooth curve, and there is a staircase located behind the stack.
