Description

This is a semi-detached cottage, likely dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of rubble stone and has a Bridgwater tiled roof with gable end stone stacks. The house presents a gable end to the road, with the entrance located on the north-west side. It is a two-storey, two-window structure. A 20th-century porch sits to the right of the centre, with a two-light flush mullioned casement window to the left. Matching windows are present on both the ground and first floors to the right. The left return, also with a gable end to the road, has a two-light flush mullioned casement window on the first floor. The rear elevation features two three-light mullioned casement windows on the ground floor, a blocked fire window to the left, and three two-light flush mullioned casements on the first floor. The eaves were raised, probably in the early 19th century. Inside, a large open fireplace is present, with a chamfered lintel resting on stone jambs. A winding newel staircase is located in the corner to the right of the fireplace, and a blocked wood mullioned window has been retained in the wall that formerly separated the cottage from the adjacent No 26. Notable interior features include a deep chamfered beam with run-out stops and planked doors.
