Description

The Pocock monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 1 metre east of the S. Guy monument and north of the north aisle door of the Church of St. Bartholomew. This monument dates from the late 18th century and is made of ashlar stone. It features a raised fielded centre plaque that is flanked by fielded panels and has baluster corners. The tomb includes a plinth, a moulded base, and a cornice with a pulvinated frieze that is broken forward over the plaque. The south side of the monument has an inscription dedicated to S. Pocock.
