Description

The Pictor monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 1 metre north of the Strong monument and north of the north door of the Church of St. Thomas. It dates from the mid-19th century and is made of ashlar stone. The tomb features three Gothic panels on each side, which are separated by buttresses, and has Gothic end panels. It has a moulded base and a ridged top stone over the capstone. The inscriptions on the monument commemorate members of the Pictor family, who were quarry owners, with the earliest decipherable date being 1857.
