Description
The Wheatsheaf Inn is an early 19th-century building that stands two storeys tall with an attic, although part of it is only two storeys. It is constructed of colour-washed brick and features a board frieze at the eaves. The roof is a slate mansard style, which includes two dormers with two-light casements.
The right side of the building curves towards North Street and has three windows on the first floor—two four-pane sashes and one two-pane sash. On the ground floor, there are two windows, one four-pane sash and one two-pane sash, along with a modern door positioned to the right.
The left side of the main part is a separate structure, which is part of an older wing that was given a mansard roof in the early 19th century. This section features a three-light glazing bar casement above a late 19th-century brick porch with a half-glazed door. The left wing has offset eaves leading to a slate roof and includes two windows on the first floor (one two-light and one three-light casement) and on the ground floor, there is a five-pane sash and a four-pane sash. Additionally, it has a mid-19th-century shop front with beaded pilasters and brackets supporting a slate pent hood. There is also a former stable located to the left of the building.
