Description

153 Oak Hill is a 17th-century cottage in Froxfield. It is constructed using timber framing and flint, with brick quoins. The roof is thatched. The cottage is single-storey with an attic, and originally comprised two bays. An entrance is located in the gable of the side elevation, next to a substantial external chimney stack which incorporates an external oven. A boarded door is covered by a canopy. The windows are iron and timber casement windows. The thatch has been extended to cover a 20th-century, single-bay extension to the west. The stack has three flues and two datestones inscribed with the initials B/FS and the date 1668.
