Description
The Pelican Public House is a building that was originally a terrace of three cottages, now serving as an inn and restaurant. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and is constructed of red and vitrified blue brick with a tiled roof. The building is two stories high and features eight window bays, with doors located in the second and sixth bays, and a blocked door in the fourth bay. The doors are half-glazed, with the sixth bay having a segmental rendered doorcase, both accompanied by soffite-panelled canopies. The windows are twelve-pane sashes set in red brick quoined openings, topped with gauged brick arches and simple brick aprons. There is a canted and sashed bay in the fourth bay and a tripartite window on the ground floor in the fifth and sixth bays, which replaces the original. The building also has dentilled eaves and three tall brick chimneys, with a rear extension added to the fifth bay. The outbuildings are not of special interest.
