Description
St. Mary's is a former vicarage, now converted into flats, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with some 19th-century alterations. The building is constructed of limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with attics and has a double pile plan consisting of three bays, five window bays, and a cross wing. The entrance is located in the fifth bay under a lean-to structure against the cross wing. The windows are leaded timber cross windows from the 19th century, topped with radial ashlar flat arches. There are two hipped dormers on the front and three more at the rear. The main block has been extended by one bay beyond the wing in the 19th century, which includes a gable door and a hipped oriel, possibly designed by W. Butterfield. The building features three stacks.
