Description

The Thatch is a 17th-century cottage located in Ogbourne St Andrew, featuring a timber frame set on a brick and stone sill, with colourwashed brick noggings and a thatched roof. The building is single storey with an attic and consists of two bays, following a lobby entry plan. The framing is two panels high, and it has a central boarded door along with paned windows, although there is a leaded window in the right bay. A central 17th-century brick stack, which has an added flue, is present, and the roof is half hipped. At the rear, there is an added 18th-century full-length lean-to, along with a later extension to the left end. The roof features clasped purlins. Inside, there is a large fireplace in the right parlour and a chamfered spine beam.
