Description

The Old Rectory is a detached house built in the early 19th century. It features limestone ashlar with rubble stone on the returns, a tiled hipped roof, and brick stacks. The building has a two-span roof and stands three stories tall with a three-window front. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door set on stone steps, topped with an Adam-style fanlight and a segmental hood, with panelled reveals. On either side of the door are 12-pane sash windows. There is a plat band at the first floor level, where there are two 12-pane sashes and one blocked window to the left. The second floor has three 6-pane sashes. The right return of the building is windowless and features a lead rainwater head dated 1811. The left return has two 12-pane sashes on the first floor and two 6-pane sashes on the second floor, while the ground floor includes an extension from 1880 with sash windows and 20th-century casements. The rear of the house has a mix of fenestration, mainly consisting of leaded casements with some sashes. Attached to the right is a two-storey range that includes a six-panelled door and two-light leaded casements, topped with a half-hipped fishscale tiled roof. Inside, the property features six-panelled doors with moulded architraves and reeded fireplace surrounds with paterae.
