Description
Monks Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one, built around 1860. The structure is made of rubble stone and features a half-hipped tiled roof, which was previously thatched, along with brick chimney stacks. It is two stories high and has three windows across the front. To the right, there is a half-glazed door with margin panes and a tiled canopy above it. To the left of the door, there are three windows: a three-light casement, a four-light casement, and a two-light casement, with the two-light window located in a blocked door. On the first floor, there are a four-light casement and two three-light casements. The right side of the building has a three-light casement on the first floor, while the left side features a door and a three-light casement, along with another three-light casement on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected. Monks Cottage is included in the register primarily for its group value, as it is contemporary with Fernely and Grovely Cottages, both of which are good examples of estate building in this village.
