Description
The Forge is a detached cottage dating from the mid-18th century, with a 19th-century extension to the east. It is constructed of dressed limestone and rubble stone, featuring a half-hipped thatched roof and brick stacks. The building is one storey with an attic and has three windows. The entrance consists of a planked door with a flat wooden hood supported by wooden barleysugar posts. To the right of the door is a two-light casement window, while to the left are two additional two-light casements. The attic contains three two-light leaded casement windows. Attached to the left is the 19th-century two-storey extension, which has two-light windows and a tiled roof. The rear of the cottage features two-light casements and three eyebrow dormers similar to those at the front. Inside, the cottage has deeply chamfered beams with stepped stops.
