Description
Grovely Cottage and Fernely Cottage are a pair of semi-detached cottages built around 1860. They are constructed from rubble stone and dressed limestone, featuring a half-hipped thatched roof and brick stacks. The cottages are two stories high with a four-window front. There are two half-glazed doors with margin-panes and fishscale tiled canopies, along with four 3-light casements and two 2-light casements on the ground floor. The first floor has four 3-light casements positioned half above the eaves. The right side of the building has a 20th-century casement window on the first floor, while the left side has a 2-light casement on both the ground and first floors. The rear wing has the same style of casements as the front and also features a half-hipped thatched roof. These cottages are contemporary with Monks Cottage and are notable examples of estate building in the village.
